Crazy Holidays

The Pacific Northwest has been hit with snow like we've never seen before and we've been told it hasn't been like this in at least the last 30 years. We woke up on Christmas Eve to another 2 inches of fresh snow on top of the 2+ feet that hadn't yet melted. Unfortunately, that was the day we were flying out for Omaha. Thankfully, we were able to get to the airport (thanks Bryan!) and got through security with no problems and all our flights were more or less on time. When we landed for our stopover in Minnesota (Go Bears!) I got a notification on my phone that the power was out at our house. It came back on that night but this morning (Christmas) it apparently went out again at 5 AM PST and is STILL out as I am writing this (3:45 PM PST). Good thing we aren't home or we'd be celebrating Christmas with no power!

Instead, we're in Omaha and pretty much just relaxing today. I took some pictures earlier today. enjoy! (click on the photo to be taken to the gallery).

What's going on?

Well, the weather is bad around here so I've spent some time revisiting how I manage and share my photos. For those that care, I'm not using Adobe Lightroom to pretty much do everything. It is actually a spectacular program for photo management and editing and allows me to shoot everything in RAW without any concerns over the workflow of the pictures.

In terms of sharing photos, I no longer plan on using spaces to do so. I am moving over to using SmugMug. The photos that are on this site are still there, but only accessible if you have the proper permissions. I've opened the blog for everyone to have access and will be posting links to photos as they come up.

Here is the link to my SmugMug page: http://jakuboleksy.smugmug.com/

And I've posted two albums thus far.

First, some pictures from spring that I finally got around to going through of a trip to the zoo and outside around the house when the weather was better (May).

Second, some pictures from this crazy snow storm we are having that still isn't letting up.

Race for the Cure

Summer will be joining some of her friends from MOMS Club to Race for the Cure on June 21, 2008.  She is shamelessly accepting donations on her own race page http://www.pugetsoundraceforthecure.org/site/TR/Race/General?px=1274401&pg=personal&fr_id=1110

Is it Really April Already?

Yes, yes it is. Time has been flying this year, with JJ growing by the minute and Summer still in school, we haven't had much time to do anything but the things we need to do. So, here's the quick recap...

Jamison is over 15 months old now, walking, running, talking and being the cutest baby on earth. He knows more than 30 words now, his favorites being "no", "dog" and "duck". He also likes to throw anything he can find, with complete disregard for the size of the object or the direction he is throwing it in. He's gotten on a really good nap and sleep schedule and is consistently sleeping through the night (8 PM to 8 AM). Currently he is being watched everyday by Gramma Spivey while Summer is student teaching. She will be here with us until June, when Summer graduates.

Which brings me to Summer, who has been busy with school for the past year and a half, but it is finally on the tail end. She actually finished most of her classes and is now 6 weeks into student teaching in the 4th grade. She can't wait to be done and have free time again. I think she is going to sit on the coach and play Xbox for a week when she is done.

For me, I have been very busy with work. We are in the early stages of our product and there is a lot to keep track of and work on, including my new responsibilities as a lead. Work is definitely exciting and fun right now and I am looking forward to seeing this release through.

We're all happy the weather is starting to turn and are looking forward to spending a lot of time outside with the dogs and JJ.
